The Long Rosy Barb comes from northern India, Bengal, and Assam. These barbs occur in a variety of habitats, from flowing hill streams and tributaries to very still waters like lakes, ponds, and swamps. They are omnivorous and feed on insects, diatoms, algae, small invertebrates, and detritus. The Long Rosy Barb is one of the most beautiful freshwater fish. This barb has a silvery or coppery-pink colour with a green cast along the back, and the males will have more pink on their underbellies. These fish are hardy, undemanding, and fun to watch because they are constantly on the move. These qualities make them one of the most desirable starter fish.  

Origin: Amazon Basin, Orinoco Basin and various rivers in the Guiana Shield in tropical South America. 
Location: Found in natural tributaries of the Amazon, Orinoco & Guiana Shield River in South America
Diet: They are omnivores, will readily accept most Tropical Flakes, Flakes, Spirulina flakes, Tropical Granules, Algae Rounds, Shrimp Pellets, frozen foods, GHM & BHM’s.
Adult Size: 6-10″
Recommended Tank Size: 130 liters+
Compatibility: Many aquarists don’t realize that angelfish grow quite large and have a bit of a temper. They are too aggressive for smaller tropical fish and too passive for cichlids. Choosing the right tank mates for freshwater angelfish requires a balance.

Though it can be tricky, plenty of fish do well with angelfish. Among them include some tetras, plecos, rainbowfish, and rams.
